Clean Batteries

Why Clean Batteries?

Keeping your battery clean ensures that it is free to work at maximum efficiency.

Follow our handy tips below to keep your battery free of corrosion.
How To Clean Your Battery
First up, safety! Batteries contain poisonous and corrosive sulphuric acid.
Avoid contact with skin and eyes.
When working around a battery always wear protective clothing and glasses, do not smoke or light a match and take care not to cause a spark.
If there is corrosion (the white deposit) around the battery, wash it off with a solution of warm water and baking soda.
If you plan to disconnect the battery at any stage of this process, you really need to know what you are doing, especially with late model cars. Late model cars have computer management systems and electronic radios. The memory may be lost when you disconnect the battery so make sure you have the radio security code before you disconnect.
If you are not confident cleaning your battery at home, you should book your vehicle in with a qualified professional.
